Cellulite Treatment
The “cottage cheese” appearance of cellulite is caused by a diffuse protrusion of adipose (fat) into the dermis. This process is driven by female hormones and is pre-programmed from birth. The dimpling appearance is due to fibrous bands which restrict the outward bulging of the globular fat. The journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery reported a recent study which found that weight loss seemed to improve cellulite in 58% of patients, but it became worse in 31%.
Our approach to cellulite reduction is multifaceted. The approach revolves around the need to reduce fat, weaken the fibrous bands, and tighten lax skin. Our unique Lipodissolve method does an incredibly effective job, especially when combined with laser. Radiofrequency treatment is a less invasive option. A combination of both methods gives an even better result. Severely depressed scars and dep dimpling may be amenable to a minimally invasive technique called subcision with local anesthesia.
