Skin Tightening

We are happy to report that several state of the art technologies have been available at Presant Vein & Aesthetics for skin tightening. The popular areas requested for skin tightening are the sagging facial skin, neck, tummy, thighs, buttocks, and upper arms.

Collagen is the main structural protein providing the supporting framework for your skin. The ability to deliver heat without pain is the key to stimulating and tightening dermal collagen. Clinical studies have shown actual increase in collagen content in the skin following treatments with heat delivering modalities of laser, intense pulsed light and radiofrequency energy.

Dr. Presant was the clinical investigator in Arizona for the  FDA marketing clearance (April 2007) of the  Alma Laser’s Accent radiofrequency device. He was the first physician in the state to use the device and performed the clinical trials two years ago. He noticed that there definitely was a learning curve to obtain the best results. The unit employs contact cooling and both unipolar energy for deep dermal tightening and bipolar energy for more superficial tightening. The unit is also used to effect reduction of fat deposits and cellulite smoothing. The handpiece is moved over the skin in a continuous motion to produce a controlled heating effect. Patients report it feels like a warm washcloth. It is a great choice for comfortable and absolutely no downtime skin tightening and body contouring. Patient selection is important as not everyone will get the best results with this device. Therefore, proper evaluation is recommended.

Other optical devices for comfortably delivering heat to dermal collagen are  near-infrared Intense Pulsed Light and the Pixel fractional  laser. Again, this advanced technology allows the treatment to be comfortable and very effective in experienced hands. The latest research reveals that the mechanism of skin tightening involves denaturation of collagen fibrils and subsequent remodeling of collagen to more resemble younger skin. The first step is immediate and the regeneration process takes several months. The maximum effect is apparent in three to six months. Collagen is the main structural support protein of the skin and normal production usually ceases by our late thirties to early forties. The ability to re-start collagen production comfortably and non-invasively can stop the aging clock for your skin and begin to reverse the signs of aging.
